Hate and Negativity

I just don't understand it.  It's one thing to be frustrated and be all "Ugh today sucks!" or "Man some people are just assholes!" but to actively put so much negativity out in the world is beyond me.  Like ... online, especially on Twitter, I see so much of it.  Everything from petty name calling to rumor mongering to actual threats.... I just don't understand.

It takes a lot of energy to have and keep that much bile and venom and poison in you! I said it in a Tweet yesterday and I say it again now... maybe it's just due to my fibro ... I'm already so low on energy that the idea of wasting it on such bullshit is beyond me.  It's foolhardy.  Stupid.  Childish.

Maybe it's 'cuz having been bullied I don't want to cause others to feel that sort of way.  But in addition I believe that what we put out there comes back to us.  The energy we put out into the universe ... I believe it stays around us.  And as like attracts like ... all you're gonna do is bring more of that shit into your life.

If you're on social media you're going to gain "positive" attention from people of the same mindset.  This will only encourage you and fuel you on.  Further you will attract "negative" attention from reporting accounts and such who are trying to get your messages/comments/etc removed and possibly your account suspended or terminated.

The thing is that it just blows my mind that people are okay directly causing negative things to other people.  I truly and literally don't understand it.  Like ... WHY spend all of that time and effort dragging somebody or spreading rumors or whatever.  When instead of giving that person any attention at all you could spend your time and energy on supporting someone or something you do like.

I really truly feel sorry for people like that.  I also feel sorry for the people in their lives.  It's such a horrible trend now with the prevalence of social media.  Like...I remember the days of AOL and Yahoo 360 (Ya I'm really showing my age here) and I didn't see anything like this.  But now there are dozens of reporting accounts and people who's entire job is to go through and see if this comment or tweet or reblog or whatever really was a death threat.

It's fucking ridiculous and sad and shows how pathetic an entire generation's worth of us has become.
